Riverrun is the next exhibition of Attilio Terragni, international architect and artist, the grandson of the famous rationalist architect Giuseppe Terragni, curated by Elisabetta Longari. The opening will be on 22 June in the new non-profit exhibition space in the city of Milan, Interface HUB/ART located in Via Privata Passo Pordoi, 7.

A unique opportunity to admire the creative activity of Terragni in a double dimension.

The first is the architectural dimension and concerns the building called Box Under the Sign of Time, designed by Terragni himself in 2009 – commissioned by the Stoppani family, owner of the famous Milanese gastronomy Peck – and the next headquarters of the company operating in the real estate maintenance sector, Interface Facility Management S.r.l..

The study of the lines that characterize the facade of the building, with horizontally cut windows of varying lengths and the reference to the geometry of Teo van Doesburg, will be found in the works on display within the exhibition space.

Here the viewer will be able to analyze the second dimension, the pictorial one, as more than twenty unpublished paintings by Terragni will be collected.

RIVERRUN is the first and last word of James Joyce’s Finnegans Wake. It is a new word. Everyone knows that River is river and Run is running. The compound word becomes a new character, however, a suggestion that introduces us to the experience of bringing things together and seeing the flow of things. – Attilio Terragni

As Elisabetta Longari writes in the catalogue: “Looking at the works of art, what immediately catches the eyes is the stroke of the lines, which in some cases become real cuts, interruptions in the surfaces. In architecture as in painting. Architecture, like Attilio Terragni’s paintings, establishes an immediate parallel with Joyce’s Finnegans Wake, precisely with regard to the deconstruction and reconstruction of language based on infinite combinations and metamorphoses, as if to restore the choral cyclicality of life.”
