HUB/ART presents "Parallax lines" by Paolo Di Rosa, a comprehensive exhibition examining the artist's "dream-like" works. Curated by Greta Zuccali and technically supported by Interface Facility Management, it will be on view from November 23, 2018 to January 6, 2019.

“Parallax lines” comes from a reflection on the concept of parallax, borrowed it from the language of physics and astronomy according to which the apparent displacement of an object, or its movement relative to the background, is caused by a change at the observation point.

The described phenomenon can be found in the Paolo Di Rosa’s work, characterized by the essentiality of composition and by a flat and brilliant color. Through the annulment of the space- time, the artworks become a metaphysical and dreamlike universe in which the characters observe and be observed, they are both internal and external.

A parallax that is conceptual above all. Through his pictorial intervention, Di Rosa constructs a fantastic imaginary wherein we become protagonists at the moment we watch it. A doubling of the object and of the field of experience that depends on the angle of the spectator, from his point of view.

He provides us with an input, invites us to be part of his world and to interpret it as we wish, building with our imagination beyond the limits of the canvas.

“We face a feeling of disorientation in front of the paintings of Di Rosa. It helps us to keep in mind that the imagination is that of the engineer – writes in the catalogue Greta Zuccali. It takes the form of a puzzle and requires minds with logical capabilities to verify. ”

Paolo Di Rosa is a self-taught artist and comes from scientific studies. The first approach to art takes place during the Chemical Engineering studies, when he discovers an interest in the use of innovative materials in the design industry. This first experience is initially felt like a personal research, but due to the awards received, in 1999 he decided to take the path of art in a professional manner, dedicating himself to all the visual arts and paying more attention to the painting.

The exhibition, free admission, is open to the public until January 6, 2019
